Open Enrollment has closed.
Thank you for taking the time to review and update your benefit elections for 2025! We’re committed to providing you with benefits, programs, tools and resources that promote a healthy lifestyle, encourage your personal wellbeing and provide the right support for you and your loved ones.
After Open Enrollment
- If you added a dependent for the first time, you must submit verification documentation to confirm that the depend is eligible for coverage. Documentation can include a marriage certificate, birth certificate or adoption papers, a copy of a court document/order that grants you legal custody and either legal conservatorship, or legal guardianship, and other documents to prove your dependent’s eligibility.
- If you need to provide Evidence of Insurability (EOI) for Voluntary Life Insurance, your coverage will not be effective until Unum approves your EOI. To confirm if you need to complete anything related to EOI, you can log into the Alera Group Benefits Center and check your dashboard for any EOI-related tasks.
- You can continue using your current medical and dental ID cards next year if are continuing with the same elections. If you changed an election for 2025, you will receive a new ID card(s). Everyone enrolled in UnitedHealthcare (UHC) will receive a new ID card(s) due to the change from UMR to UHC.
- Starting January 1, set up your personalized account(s) through your carrier(s), if you haven’t already. After you set up your account you can find plan details, access electronic ID cards, search for participating providers, and submit and manage your claims.
- This is a good time to review and update your Alera Group 401(k) Retirement Savings Plan contributions and investments, to make sure you’re on track to meet your retirement income goals. While you’re logged in to your account, review and update your beneficiary designations too.
- To review and update your beneficiary designations for other benefits, you can log into the Alera Group Benefits Center.
Updating Your Elections Throughout the Year
If you have a qualifying life event during the year, you may be able to update your elections within 30 days of the event through the Alera Group Benefits Center. You must provide supporting documentation, which is subject to approval by Alera Group. Qualifying life events include marriage, birth/adoption, divorce/legal separation, change in dependent eligibility, loss of coverage, spouse’s gain or loss of employment, or court action.
To update your benefit elections within 30 days of a life event:
- Log into your account.
- On the left side of the screen, click “change your elections”.
- Select the applicable Life Event.
- Follow the prompts to update your elections.
Life event benefit elections become effective on the first of the month following the event date, except for new hire elections and election updates after the birth of a child. New hire and birth elections become effective on the date of eligibility
What’s Changing in 2025
- Carrier replacement: Our UMR/Accolade health plans will be replaced by new integrated plans from UnitedHealthcare. You’ll continue to have access to the same provider network you have today.
- Health care increases: Health care costs continue to rise nationwide, and you will see an increase in your costs for 2025. Alera Group will share in these increases with you — and we’re committed to providing a range of plan options that provide you with the care you need while helping you manage expenses.
- PPO plan changes: The deductibles and out-of-pocket maximums for our PPO plans will increase for 2025.
- The in-network deductible is increasing to $2,000 individual/$4,000 family.
- The in-network out-of-pocket maximum is increasing to $5,000 individual/$10,000 family.
- With PPO plan designs changing for 2025, we encourage you to review all the plans available to you for 2025. The Surest plan offers a great alternative for both lower premiums and out-of-pocket costs.
- HDHP deductible change: Per IRS guidelines, the in-network deductible for the $3,200 HDHP plan is increasing to $3,300.
- Updated Health Care Flexible Spending Account (FSA) and Health Savings Account (HSA) Limits: The IRS is increasing Health Care FSA and HSA contribution limits in 2025 for individuals and families. Open Enrollment is a perfect time to review your finances and adjust your savings goals.
- GLP-1s for weight loss: We’re rolling out a new companion program with ModifyHealth and you must participate for access to GLP-1s for weight loss. ModifyHealth is a nutrition and wellbeing support program providing home-delivered, medically tailored meals while also offering dietitian support, remote patient monitoring, medication and education. Look for more information about this program in 2025.
- Adult orthodontics coverage: The Enhanced DPPO plan will now include adult orthodontia at no added cost to your rates.
- Orthopedic pain support: The Regenexx orthopedic pain support benefit will no longer be available to Alera Group colleagues effective January 1, 2025.
- Accident Insurance enhancements: Accident Insurance will pay a larger lump-sum for certain injuries sustained in an accident (for example $800 for a hospital or ICU admission instead of $500 and $200 for a concussion instead of $100). It will also cover some additional situations (for example, the benefit will pay $30 for necessary pet boarding). Alera Group will no longer be contributing to Accident Insurance for employees enrolled in a HDHP.
- Medical opt-out benefit: Alera Group will be eliminating the medical opt-out benefit effective January 1, 2025.
