
Welcome to your new benefits! Alera Group provides a comprehensive and flexible benefits program designed to meet your needs and those of your family. Some benefits are paid in full by Alera Group, and some costs are shared between you and Alera Group. Other benefits are made available at reasonable group rates.
Follow this checklist to get your benefits off to a great start!
- Create a shortcut/bookmark for this site. It should always be your first stop whenever you need information about your Alera Group benefits. From here you can find most of the information you need, including links out to all the benefits vendors Alera Group partners with.
- Tell your spouse/domestic partner about this site too. The Share button at the top of each page makes it easy. When you can’t find the information you need on this site and/or you need personalized assistance with your Alera Group benefits, reach out to the Alera Group Benefits Center.
- To have coverage, you must actively enroll in all benefits that have colleague contributions within 30 days of your hire date. This includes medical, dental and vision coverage. Enroll through the Alera Group Benefits Center. As a first-time user, follow the prompts to register your account.
- Designate your beneficiaries. Although you don’t have to enroll in company-paid Basic Life Insurance, Basic Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) Insurance and Business Travel Accident (BTA) Insurance, you should provide your beneficiary information for them when you enroll in your other benefits through the Alera Group Benefits Center.
- Your benefits are effective on the first of the month following your date of hire, unless explained otherwise. Your benefits remain in effect through the end of the calendar year unless you process a qualifying life event or are terminated. You cannot make changes to your benefits elections until Open Enrollment or within 30 days of a qualifying life event.
- Register with Principal to manage your Alera Group 401(k) Retirement Savings Plan. After 30 days from your hire date, you are automatically enrolled in the 401(k) with a 3% deferral rate. If you want to contribute more than 3%, you can adjust your deferral rate through Principal. To maximize the Alera Group match — 100% of the first 1% of deferrals, then 50% of the next 5% of deferrals — contribute at least 6%. At a 6% deferral rate, the Alera Group match is 3.5%. You can also designate your beneficiaries and select your investments through Principal .

Prorated HSA Contributions
If you are eligible for Alera Group Health Savings Account (HSA) contributions, the contribution amount may be prorated based on the quarter in which your benefits eligibility date occurs.
