Welcome to your new benefits! Alera Group provides a comprehensive and flexible benefits program designed to meet your needs and those of your family. Some benefits are paid in full by Alera Group, and some costs are shared between you and Alera Group. Other benefits are made available at reasonable group rates.
Follow this checklist to get your benefits off to a great start!
- Create a shortcut/bookmark for this site. It should always be your first stop whenever you need information about your Alera Group benefits. From here you can find most of the information you need, including links out to all the benefits vendors Alera Group partners with. Tell your spouse/domestic partner about this site too — the Share button at the top of each page makes it easy. When you can’t find the information you need on this site and/or you need personalized assistance with your Alera Group benefits, reach out to the Alera Group Benefits Center.
- To have coverage, you must actively enroll in all benefits that require colleague contributions (e.g., medical, dental and vision coverage) within 30 days of your hire date. Enroll through the Alera Group Benefits Center. As a first-time user, follow the prompts to register your account.
- You are automatically enrolled in all 100% company-paid benefits, but when you enroll in other benefits through the Alera Group Benefits Center, take a moment to designate your beneficiaries for company-paid Basic Life Insurance, Basic Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) Insurance and Business Travel Accident (BTA) Insurance.
- Your benefits, unless explained otherwise, become effective on the first of the month following your date of hire and remain in effect through the end of the calendar year unless you process a qualifying life event or are terminated. You cannot make changes to your benefits elections until Open Enrollment or within 30 days of a qualifying life event.
- After 30 days from your hire date, you are automatically enrolled in the Alera Group 401(k) Retirement Savings Plan with a 3% deferral rate. If you are interested in contributing more than 3%, please create an account through our 401(k) benefit partner, Principal and select the deferral percentage that is right for you. Alera Group will match 100% of the first 1% of deferrals, then 50% of the next 5% of deferrals. To maximize the match, you would need to contribute at least 6%. At that deferral rate, the Alera Group match would be 3.5%. Designate your beneficiaries and select your investments too. You can start and manage your 401(k) account.
