If you’re enrolled in a High-Deductible Health Plan and contribute to a Health Savings Account (HSA), you can bump up your annual contributions to the family maximum and enjoy more tax savings.
Marriage is what’s called a qualified life event. That gives you permission to make relevant updates to your Alera Group benefits, but you must make those updates within 30 days of your marriage.
Consider These Changes:
Go to the Alera Group Benefits Center within 30 days of your hire effective date. (You will be required to submit documentation of your marriage to add your spouse as a new dependent.)
Updating your will is important, especially for your new spouse’s peace of mind.
If you’re enrolled in the Legal Benefit, it could be free for you to update your will. If you’re not enrolled at the time of your marriage, you can enroll during the next Open Enrollment period.
You have new relationships: a new spouse, in-laws, perhaps stepchildren. You may need a partner to help you navigate in a loving and productive way.
