When Benefits End

Separating from Alera Group? We wish you well and want to help you understand what will happen to your company benefits. Most will end on your separation date, but there are important details you’ll want to know.

Update Your Address Before Leaving

Many of the notifications/forms noted below will be mailed directly to your home address, so please confirm we have your current address on file. To update your address, send an email to alerapayroll@aleragroup.com.

Your Coverage Details

Medical / Prescription, Dental, Vision and Mental Health

Benefit coverage ends on the last day of the month in which your employment ends (including access to Included Health and virtual appointments through Spring Health).

You may elect to continue coverage under COBRA.

Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs)

Benefits end on your separation date. Only those expenses incurred on or prior to your last day of employment will be eligible for reimbursement. You must submit all claims for reimbursement from your FSAs within 90 days after your separation date. You may elect to continue your Health Care FSA on a post-tax basis through the end of the calendar year. See your COBRA packet for details.

401(k) Retirement Savings Plan
Within two weeks after Alera Group submits your separation date to Principal, you’ll receive a distribution packet at your home address.
Short-Term and Long-Term Disability

These benefits end on your separation date.

If you’re currently on an approved short- or long-term disability, your benefits will not be impacted by this change in your employment status.

Life and Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D)

These benefits end on your separation date. After your separation from Alera Group, Unum will mail you a packet detailing your options, such as portability and conversion.

Voluntary Accident and Critical Illness

These benefits end on your separation date. You have the option to continue coverage by paying Unum directly. After your separation from Alera Group, Unum will mail you a packet with instructions.

Long-Term Care (LTC) + Life Insurance

These benefits end on your separation date.

You have the option to continue coverage by paying Chubb directly. After your separation from Alera Group, Chubb will mail you a packet with instructions.

Genomic Life (Cancer Guardian)

These benefits end on your separation date.

You can continue coverage if you have satisfied the 12-month enrollment requirement.

LifeLock

These benefits end on your separation date.

You can transition your coverage to a Norton 360 plan by going to Norton LifeLock’s support page or by calling 866-456-9316 (use promo code WB3 for a discount).

Commuter

These benefits end on your separation date.

Transit account: no claims submissions are permitted (all funds will be forfeited).

Parking account: claims submissions are permitted up to 90 days after your separation date.

Alera Group pre-pays this benefit on your behalf. If your separation occurs after the order for the following month is processed, Alera will deduct the full outstanding balance from your final paycheck.

Legal

These benefits end on your separation date.

LegalShield Corp will notify you by mail about your options to continue coverage through direct pay.
