Turning 26 is a big milestone — whether it’s you or your dependent child. Refer to this checklist for things to consider in this event.
Once you turn 26, if you’re covered on your parent’s health plan, your coverage will typically end on the last day of the month of your 26th birthday. If you choose, you can enroll in Alera Group health coverage (within 60 days of your loss of coverage) or continue your current health coverage through COBRA. Alera Group coverage should be considerably less expensive than COBRA. If you elect Alera Group benefits, your contributions will be retroactive to the effective date.
Enrolling in Alera Group health coverage for the first time? Don’t stress — there are resources to help you choose the right benefits for you!
When you make your benefit choices through the Alera Group Benefits Center, you can use the MyChoice Recommendation Engine to receive personalized recommendations based on your health care needs and preferences. You can also get decision-making support from the Sofia personal virtual benefits assistant as you enroll.
